Data Protection Privacy Notice
In line with UK GDPR (the United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulation) it is the responsibility of Scottish Borders Council to let you know how we collect and use your information.

How we will use your information
Within the Multiply programme, we will use your information to maintain learner records and to contact you. We will use these records to measure progress, to research and improve Multiply programmes and future adult learning programmes in the Borders. This service is voluntary and if you agree to take part this means the Council is entitled to collect and use this information as it is necessary to perform a task in the public interest or for our official functions.
The information you have provided will be retained for 2 years after you have finished learning with Multiply Programme within the Community, Learning and Development service.

Who we may share your information with
Your information will be accessed by Council staff who need to use it to provide the Multiply programme. The programme is funded by the UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund, therefore your personal information provided may be made available to the UK Government for the purposes of monitoring, reporting and evaluation of this funding.
The Council is legally obliged to share certain data with other public bodies such as Scottish Government and Education Scotland and will do so where the law requires this, and it will be proportionate.
Your information may also be shared and analysed internally to provide management with information to inform service delivery reform and similar purposes to meet our duty to achieve best value and continuous service improvement. Information will be used to compile reports for partnership planning groups. This will be presented in a way that ensures that information cannot be linked to individuals.
To deliver and improve this service we may also need to share the minimum data necessary of your personal and sensitive details with:
• Delivery partners. These are organisations who work with us and local authorities to deliver support, such as the Borders College.
• Specialist training providers, such as Scottish Borders Maths Tuition.
• Other organisations necessary for your full participation in the support offered e.g., the organisers of a training session which you attend.
• We will never use or share your contact information for any marketing purposes.
The data used will be necessary and proportionate for the purposes outlined above.

Your rights
You have the right to request access to any personal data held about you by the Council. You can also request that we restrict the use of your information or even object to any further processing. You can do this by contacting the Data Protection Officer using the contact details provided below. We will respond to your request within thirty calendar days.

How to raise a complaint
If you are unhappy with the way the Council has processed your personal data, please contact the Council’s Data Protection Officer. If after raising your concerns with the Data Protection Officer you remain dissatisfied you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (45 Melville Street, Edinburgh, EH3 7HL, Tel: 0131 244 9001, Email: scotland@ico.org.uk).

Decision-Making
The Council does not use profiling or automated decision-making processes. Some processes are semi-automated (such as anti-fraud data matching), but a human decision maker will always be involved before any decision is reached in relation to you.
